Post UroFill® Procedure Instructions: 5 Simple Things You Must Do + Follow Up Care

UroFill® is a minimally invasive penile girth enhancement technique involving injections of hyaluronic acid into the shaft of the penis, performed on an outpatient basis at a certified medical office.

The initial procedure typically takes 10 to 20 minutes, varying according to individual needs.

Once the initial round of penis enlargement injections is completed, your urologist will advise your on the next steps, which include:

• Post-Procedure Instructions (see below)
• Follow-up appointments for evaluation, additional enhancements and any necessary corrections (see below)

Post-Procedure Instructions 

There are 5 simple things to do post-procedure. Following these instructions will make a difference in achieving the optimal final result.

1. Suspend Sexual Relations – Sexual activity should be suspended for at least 72 hours. This is a necessary step to protect the penis from possible localized skin infections which may affect the shaping of the organ and thus compromise the result. After this period, sexual activity can resume.
   
2. Keep Your Dressing in Place – Keep your dressing / gauze in place for 24 hours.
3. Apply Arnica Cream – Apply over-the-counter Arnica Cream or a hot towel to the area to mitigate bruising.
4. Do Not Shave Your Pubic Area – Do not shave or manscape in the area for 2 weeks post-procedure. 
5. Do NOT Shower “Same Day” – You can shower the morning after your procedure.

Immediate Effects of Penile Injections / Filling

Since the injections are made with a fine needle using local anesthesia, the UroFill® procedure is performed with little to no pain. 

Depending on individual sensitivity, mild discomfort may be felt, which quickly subsides.

The area may become slightly red or bruised following the procedure. This effect is temporary and most bruises resolve within a week. Again, this is a brief reaction that disappears spontaneously and does not require any action.

To prevent possible infection, at the end of the procedure, the penis is covered with a loose gauze, which should be kept in place for 24 hours.

When Can You Return to Routine Activities?

The post-UroFill® procedure does not require restrictions or the need for rest, except for a cessation of all sexual relations for the first 72 hours.

Following each session, patients can resume their routine activities the same day or the next, depending on the activity:

• Driving
• Working (standing or sitting)
• Grocery shopping

You can do these activities after 24 hours:

• Shower
• Sports activities
• Working out

Follow Up Sessions After Treatment Completion

Unlike techniques without proven efficacy, UroFill® is performed in stages, according to the goal, individual characteristics, and progress shown by each patient. 

First Session Initial Follow-Up

One week after the first session of applications, “modeling” or manual manipulation of the filler is performed if necessary before your next UroFill session.

Two weeks after the first session, if necessary, subsequent rounds are performed to enhance volume and/or correct irregularities.

On average, treatment requires a total of three or four consultations, with intervals of seven to 15 days. This period is necessary to allow the filler to stabilize and detect areas that need improvement, aiming for the most harmonious and satisfactory result possible.

Future Follow Ups

Following your initial series of injections / treatments will lead to the long-awaited final appearance. The enlargement is lasting, but not permanent. 

Therefore, to maintain the obtained effect, periodic ‘touch-ups’ are necessary. The duration of the Hyaluronic Acid following the UroFill® procedure varies from person to person, depending on individual anatomy, but data shows patients retain up to 90% at 21 months, if not longer.

Additional Tips to Preserve Your Hyaluronic Acid Injection Results

In addition, these are other good rules of thumb to follow to maintain best results:

Stay Hydrated: Adequate hydration is essential for overall health and aids in healing, promoting recovery after your post-UroFill® procedure. The recommended water intake varies depending on age, weight, and lifestyle. For non-athletes, a general guideline suggests 35 ml per kilogram of body weight daily.

Maintain a Balanced Diet – A balanced diet is another key factor in maintaining overall health and, naturally, skin health. The rule is simple: eat real food, vary your choices, and avoid highly processed options. To benefit the skin and penis specifically, include generous servings of fruits, vegetables, and legumes in your meals, as they are rich in vitamins and minerals. 

Also, consider consuming soy, which improves elasticity, and legumes (such as chestnuts, almonds, walnuts, etc.), which enhance its appearance. We call this ‘The Erection Diet’. 

Avoid Cigarettes and Alcoholic Beverages – Besides being harmful to health, smoking and alcohol can interfere with the recovery process. Therefore, discuss this with your doctor and consider avoiding these substances, at least during the post-procedure period.
